All of world history is a cosmic travel from Pesach to Sukkot (Tabernacles).

The first Temple corresponded with Pesach.

The Second Temple corresponded with Shavuot (The Feast of Weeks).

The final Temple will correspond with Sukkot (Tabernacles) [note: this year Sukkot begins Sept. 18th, includes the fall equinox on 9/22 and ends with Shmini Atzeret on Sept 26th..this will be a big ‘wrap-up’ time].

On the day of the Second Temples destruction, the 9th of Av, we entered the year of the 17th of Tamuz.

The Cosmic Clock started to tick again in 1918. When asked why children of Torah scholars no longer walked in the way of their ancestors, the Chazon Ish [the great one of his generation] answered, “the winds of cosmic change are blowing at gale force.”

The 21 years between the end of WWI in 1918 and the beginning of WW2 in 1939 correspond to 21 days between the 17th of Tamuz and the 9th of Av.

1918 (5678) ~ the last year of the 17th of Tamuz (cycles spanning 2000 years of exile)

1931 (5691) – Rosh Chodesh Av (the first of Av).

1939 (5699) – 9th of Av. Hitler attacked Poland less than 1 month before 5700, the 10th of Av.

[Each month, the spiritual decree is on the 1st. It is sealed on the 10th. And it becomes physically manifest on the 14th day for 29 day months and on the 15th day for 30 day months. The New Moon judgments determine our eternity while the full moon judgments determine our this worldly status. (Dov Bar Leib)]

5699 (1939) – 9th of Av

5705 (1945) – Tu B’Av (15th of Av) – an ancient festival celebrating the end of our destructions which regularly started with the 9th of Av.

As we approach the Sukkot period of world History, the redemption from 1945 onwards can can be understood on two levels: the microcosm, the redemption of Israel, counting down to Pesach; and the macrocosm, the redemption of Humanity, counting down to Sukkot.

On a macrocosmic level, 5705 (end of World War 2) can best be tied to Tu B’Av (15th of Av), the end of destruction. For Israel as a nation it also represented Tu Bishvat 15th of Shvat, the New Year for fruit trees in the Land of Israel, as return to the land commenced.

5699 – 1939 – 9th of Av
5705 – 1945 – Tu B’Av / Tu Bishvat (15th of Av / 15th of Shvat)
5708 – 1948 – Chai Av / Chai Shvat (18th of Av / 18th of Shvat)
5720 – 1960 – Rosh Chodesh Elul / Rosh Chodesh Adar (1st of Elul / 1st of Adar)
5727 – 1967 – Zayin Adar (7th of Adar) – day of Moses’ passing
5734 – 1973 – Purim (Yom Kippur War – Yom Kippur = Yom K’Purim, a day like Purim)
5750 – 1990 – Rosh Hashana
5751 – 1991 – beginning of new era (corresponding to the new year) [If Elul had 29 days as is the case in our long exile, then the first of Tishrei would be 5750. If on the other hand, Elul had 30 days the first of Tishrei would be 5751. – Dov Bar-Leib]

According to the Vilna Gaon, three quarters of the way through the sixth millenium [1990] will be akin to three quarters of the way through the sixth day of the week (Friday), which comes to NOON on the sixth day. On noon on Fridays, the shofar blowers (lightbearers) would blow the shofar to announce to those in the fields that the Sabbath (the 7th millenium) is approaching. On that day the shofar was blown and all the souls scattered in Ashur and Mitzrayim assembled at the holy mountain in Jerusalem.

Ten Years of Awe between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur: 5750-5760 (1990-2000)

5760 – (Y2K) – Yom Kippur

 

2000-2014: From Yom Kippur to Sukkot (ad v’ad bichlal)

Sukkot[my take on where we stand now!]

Yom Kippur = Y2k = 2000

Sukkot = Redemption [according to the model above]

so where are we now???

12 “days” after Yom Kippur = 2012 (= 5772) = Shmini Atzeret
13 days later = 2013 (5773) = Simchat Torah
14 days later = 2014 (5774 – begins Sept 4th = Shabbat Bereshit – Sabbath of Creation (which in 5774 falls on the 24th of Tishrei)

There are 3 full days between Yom Kippur & Erev Sukkot. These are extremely rushed days during which people scurry to build a sukkah (temporary dwelling space) after the day of fasting/cleansing and before the full moon harvest festival of Tabernacles. On a deeper level, the judgment or new energy of the year is sealed on Yom Kippur, and the energy of the new year begins on Sukkot. So there are 3 full days (& one half-day, since Sukkot begins at sunset on the 4th intervening day) that are sort of a lag-time between when the judgment for the new year is sealed and the new revelation is experienced. This is why the act of hammering in the first nail of the sukkah is very sacred and many rush to do it on the night following Yom Kippur right after breaking the fast, or even before eating. Then those three days are nearly non-conscious in a state of flow, as one rushes around to acquire the four species of plant and seven species of fruit and builds the temporary dwelling and prepares for the festival.

On a deeper level this is because although the judgment is sealed, there is still a sort of window to adjust it. The joy one experiences on the holiday is the ultimate clincher, and Shmini Atzeret or the EIGHTH (alluding to Chanukah and the Infinite) day of Sukkot is really when the ‘pitka’ or note with one’s destiny for that year is submitted in heaven.

ImageStill, according to Chasidic thought the interim period extends through Chanukah (ISON perihilion), and the 8th day of Chanukah known as Zot Chanukah, when all windows display a full candleabra of 8 candles (under a comet), the light is so strong that all iniquities are in any case transmuted to merits and all judgments are nullified, all decrees sweetened, all is drenched in essence and begins anew.

What the tzadikim [righteous] can not reach on Nielah of Yom Kippur, a regular person can reach on the 8th day of Chanukah

And so … the 3.5 days between Yom Kippur (2000) and Sukkot (redemption), which were supposed to take only 3.5 years, have stretched now to 12.5/13, because the longer the delay, the sweeter the judgment….although the delay is SURELY OVER!!!

June 25-July 16: Between the Straits, the Alphabet & the Purpose of the World

“Between the straits” בין המצרים is the 3-week period that began last Tuesday, between the 17th of Tammuz, when the walls of Jerusalem were breached, and the 9th of Av, when the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed.

It is written that in the time to come, the entire T’kufat Bein Hameitzarim (TBH) – תקופת בין המצרים – (“the period between the straits”) will turn into one great long 3-week celebration –

through the secret of entering Noah’s Ark – Teivat Noach – תבת נח – the word Tevah תבה, also from the letters TBH, means both ‘Ark’ and ‘Letter’ in Hebrew –

stepping into the Tachlit Beriyat Ha’Olam (TBH)- תכלית בריאת העולם – the Purpose of the Creation of the World, rooted in the mystery of the letters of the alphabet

The content of this future 3-week celebration of 22 days will be connected to the “It-hapcha”, אתהפכא – the turning around or Sweetening of the traditional Yom Kippur Confession וידוי, which is an acrostic based on the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet: Ashamnu, Bagadnu, Gazalnu…. (We have inccurred guilt, we have betrayed, we have stolen…) אשמנו, בגדנו, גזלנו…

The first day of this period will become the day of the “Shattering of the Walls” שבירת החומות (shevirat ha’chomot)- the shattering of preconceptions -שבירת המוסכמות (shevirat ha’muskamot). The eleventh day, the 27th of Tammuzכ”ז – ז”ך תמוז (Kaz or Zach Tamuz), corresponding to “we have deceived” (kazavnu, כזנבנו) will turn into a day of trickery, like April Fool’s, or Purim. 27 Tammuz is traditionally the birthday of Joseph.

The 12th day of the holiday, the 28th of Tammuz כ”ח תמוז will correspond to “we have made mockery of” (לצנו, latznu) – a grand day of mockery and fun (ליצנות – leitzanut)! In Gematria, “Latz” לץ – to make fun – equals 120 which is the numerical value of “Elijah the Prophet” אליהו הנביא.

On the eve of the 9th of Av, it is traditional to eat a meal of lentils עדשים (adashim), in memory of the meal Jacob fed his twin brother, Esau, to strengthen his spirit before acquiring from him the first-born status.

On the day of the “destruction” (chorban חורבן) one eats carob (charuvin חרובין), which signifies abundant grace (ribui chen ריבוי חן).

These last two days correspond to the letters Shin ש and Taf ת, which, when spelled out, equal “the Coming of the Messiah”‘ and “Completion”.
